Nice shot.. we hear coyotes near my daughters house at night,
but never have seen them in daylight.
Coyotes used to be diurnal animals but they adapted and became mainly nocturnal during the 1800's from intense pressure from the ranchers at the time to slaughter them off. They are a tough find during the day time to come across and will spend most of there time sleeping on the edge of the tree lines near large valleys where they like to find rodents. Occasionally they will be brave enough (or hungry enough) to venture out in the daylight.
What a beautiful (and very large) coyote, I really like the composition of this shot. He seems to be hesitating, trying to decide which direction to go. Great capture. :)
