Here is an animal i was very excited to see in the wild for the first time, Shot was taken in the Lamar region of Yellowstone National Park.

Badgers are very very strong and aggressive animals here in North America, in Europe a different species used to be hunted for sport hence the term 'badgering' however the practice quickly discontinued here when it was discovered these animals could tear a full grown hound to pieces with there large claws, territorial disposition and I am in charge attitude.

Badgers can dig faster than a man with a shovel and are known for having intricate mazes of tunnels in there territory, this female badger had a tunnel over 40 yards long connecting to her den.

There territory is small no larger than a mile and a half and they spend there time digging for small mammals such as prarie dogs.

Coyotes will often hang around them keeping a safe distance hoping there digging will scare animals out of nearby escape tunnels for a quick snack.
